Why is there such a price difference when I look at fire tables and fire features?

Much like grills in this category price usually equals life span. You definitely don’t want steel if you expect it to last and SS is alot more expensive. In the case of fire features you can also find some amazing product made from fibre reinforced concrete. American Fyre Designs was among the first to really do this well and several have followed like Firegear. Both lines should certainly be checked out thoroughly. Stoll has done an equally amazing job using all aluminum with SS Burners. Prices are better and color selection is really good. We sell all of these and would love to help you make the best decision.

Should I DIY or buy finished?

As with many questions the answer depends on your budget and your desire to actually DIY. Some have no interest in doing this and others don’t know how. Usually if you are not already a pretty capable DIY’er you will spend more on tools and materials than you will buying a beautiful finished product. If you are of the mind to DIY then check out Firegear for sure, they sell every burner and control you can imagine and they are a quality company.

Most will know this means Keep It Simple Stupid (just repeating an old rule). When it comes to fire features this has never been more true. Fancy and complicated electronics are a terrible idea when it comes to outdoor fire. We always recommend good old fashioned “Match Throw” fire features as they are the most reliable and easiest to repair by a long shot.
