Instead of just having your typical “Here are some ideas for the Super Bowl or tailgating type cooking class,” this year we decided to take it up a notch and have a fun competition with our staff and customers. The idea came because we are normally telling each other how AWESOME a cook we had last night or “You should have seen how big the piece of meat I cooked this weekend was…” but we don’t always get to taste and share it with the others in the store — and sometimes we wonder if they really cooked a whole hog or was it just a hotdog on a stick! So we decided to have everyone bring a recipe and share it with the group and take it to a vote.
So this past Tuesday we had the first Fireside’s Annual Game Day Grub Cooking Class and Competition. Everyone came out for this event and we were all excited.
We rolled out the turf…
Game faces were one…
Recipes were practiced… some for weeks ahead (😂 Ed!)
Team colors were worn…
And then it was go time…
And then they voted.
And we are happy to announce that Mr. Chris McKie won with his Vietnamese-Style Pork on a Stick!
Congrats, Chris! I know a few who are already talking about next year! (And yes, we know it says mystery ingredient… he will not even share the secret with us! … but he did tell us how to make the same thing with beef and what secret ingredient to use.)
