On any given day with the click of a button anyone can do a google search and find beautiful outdoor kitchens to look at and dream about. From Pintrest, to Houzz, DIY blogs, your local hardware stores and even on television shows on HGTV, outdoor kitchens are popping up everywhere. It seems that everyone is an “expert” and wants to get in on the fun. From just a picture it is hard to really know and understand all that goes into the planning, execution and completion of these projects. Here at Fireside, we take the dreaming, planning and building of outdoor kitchens seriously and are excited to share another beautifully constructed and completed project with you.
Whether you want to keep it simple, go over the top or just be somewhere in the middle, there are really important steps to be taken in the process of creating your perfect outdoor space. The client we worked with on this project followed all the rules and really made sure every detail was perfect while they were completing their home makeover project. The addition that was added in the backyard really completes the space and this family has a warm, inviting and fun entertaining space that they will be enjoying for many years to come. With the help of local contractor, Keith Howard and designer Nancy Kitchens, Fireside helped to create “The Gathering Spot” for this family that meets all there needs. Enjoy the photos and hopefully this kitchen gets you “fired up” to dream and plan your own!
Here is the entire covered outdoor kitchen space with seating areas around the bar and on a lovely sectional in front of a double sided brick wood burning fireplace.
Every detail was thought out for this fireplace area even down to the little detail of the cricket on the hearth. Many people do not know the meaning and history behind the cricket on the hearth. Charles Dickens wrote the novel, The Cricket on the Hearth: A Fairy Tale of Home and from that novel and other old folklore, an appreciation and importance has been placed on the cricket in the home. While they are known for their chirp or song they sing, they are also thought to be a sign of impending windfall and good luck. In many Asian countries and even throughout other corners of the world, a cricket has been a sign of good luck for thousands of years. And at times a cricket has been thought to be a watchdog since, at any sign of danger, they will stop chirping. I think every home needs their own cricket!
If you look on the stained, grooved ceiling you will also see another detail that was added to provide another source of warmth for this space. The client wanted to be able to use this kitchen and outdoor space through all seasons and while it does not get that cold here in Georgia, they still decided to get Infratech ceiling mounted heaters to add a little more warm to the space. The installation is beautiful and they really heat things up!
The outdoor kitchen area has ultra durable Naturekast silver birch cabinets. These cabinets are nearly indestructible and can handle anything that mother nature throws at them. NatureKast has a unique approach to beauty with their cabinets. And by using closed-cell Resin, they create the look of real wood with a 100% Weatherproof guarantee. This client chose the Louver door and we think it was the perfect choice. Below you can see how we work with our customer taking them from concept to reality.
Enjoy the pictures and don’t hesitate to reach out to Greig McCully or Chris Meikrantz to start working on making your perfect gathering spot.
Other details in this kitchen are the ceramic grill, a large Big Green Egg that we have heard is a favorite for this grill master. There is also a FireMagic A530 that gets the job done when a quick weeknight meal is needed. It also feature a lifetime warranty.
This kitchen really has everything one could want to allow for great family gatherings with a crowd or just time spent watching the game alone.
And we can’t forget the gas lights that were added on the wall. What a fun and inviting feature and conversation piece they create.
